Solve the common case first

Eyedropper looks wrong

Sample three nearby pixels and average mentally; single-pixel samples often catch shadow or highlight instead of the true surface color.

Paint too dark

You probably sampled a shadow. Add a warmer/lighter secondary color and face your best-painted side toward the seeker path.

Brush too pixelated
